Diese Trilogie von Patricio Guzman entstand, basierend auf dem Material chilenischer Filmemacher, in den Jahren 1973 bis 1978. Es ist der einzige Film über das letzte Regierungsjahr der Unidad Popular und rangiert auf Platz 7 der besten Dolumentarfilme der Filmgeschichte.

50 Jahre nach dem Sturz des demokratisch gewählten Präsidenten Salvador Allende am 11. September 1973 durch General Pinochet liegt der Film in einer digital restaurierten Fassung vor, zu der Patricio Guzman selbst den Kommentar neu eingesprochen hat.

Teil 1 umfasst die Monate März bis Juni 1973, beginnend am Vorabend der letzten freien Wahlen. Agil bewegt sich die Erzählung zwischen Plenarsaal und Straßenkampf, Streikkomitees und Nachbarschaftshilfe, Autokorsos und Großdemonstrationen und macht so auch Zusammenhänge und Widersprüche sichtbar.

Esta trilogía de Patricio Guzmán, realizada entre 1973 y 1978 a partir de material de cineastas chilenos, es la única película sobre el último año de gobierno de la Unidad Popular y ocupa el séptimo lugar entre los mejores dolumentales de la historia del cine.

50 años después del derrocamiento del Presidente democráticamente elegido Salvador Allende el 11 de septiembre de 1973 por el general Pinochet, la película está ahora disponible en una versión restaurada digitalmente, con el comentario del propio Patricio Guzmán.

La primera parte cubre los meses de marzo a junio de 1973, comenzando en la víspera de las últimas elecciones libres. La narración se mueve ágilmente entre el salón de plenos y la lucha callejera, los comités de huelga y la ayuda vecinal, los desfiles de coches y las manifestaciones a gran escala, haciendo así visibles también las conexiones y contradicciones.

Part 1 covers the months of March to June 1973, beginning on the eve of the last free elections. The narrative moves agilely between the plenary hall and street fighting, strike committees and neighborhood help, car parades and large-scale demonstrations, thus also making connections and contradictions visible.
